| | We're proud to share with you Villagepump's latest developments. In our second newsletter we'll keep you up to date on the projects we're most excited about and share with you the key developments that we come across through our work in the first quarter of 2015.
So we have shipped our first Villagepump to Latin America. In close collaboration with Merinsac a demo unit was installed in the village of Acobamba in Peru. We have appointed CleanWaterTechnology / Sanitron as our distributor for Ecuador and Colombia and shipped some Villagepumps to these countries. Furthermore we have installed our first Villagepump in our home country The Netherlands. This Villagepump was installed at a special location De Ceuvel, an unique show case for sustainability and circular economy. And we are very glad and honoured that Sabic, one of the largest chemical multinationals, has selected Villagepump as an icone project to show the possibilities of the application of plastics for innovative water purifying devices.
We are excited about the challenges ahead and look forward to share them with you and the rest of our community. Looking forward to a further collaboration with you.

1. First Villagepump in Latin America |
|
At the end of last year we have shipped our first Villagepump to Latin America (Peru), in close collaboration with our Peruvian distributor Merinsac (Mercantil Interamericana). They have set up a pilot in the small village of Acobamba to show how easy the Villagepump operates. In the meantime more Villagepumps are shipped to Colombia and Ecuador in close collaboration with our new distributor for these countries: Clean Water Technology, inc / Sanitron. These Villagepumps, Standards as well as Well-versions, will arrive in short term and will also be used for demo and pilot purposes. We see a lot of opportunities in these Latin American countries and are looking forward to get a substantial installed base in near future. |

2. Villagepump at De Ceuvel, Amsterdam |
|
De Ceuvel is a planned workplace for creative and social enterprises in Amsterdam. A group of initiators won a tender to turn the heavily polluted site into a regenerative urban oasis. The former industrial plot will be turned into one of the most unique and sustainable urban developments in Europe. The site will feature imaginatively retrofitted houseboats placed around a winding bamboo walkway and surrounded by an undulating landscape of soil-cleaning plants. |
Each of the upgraded boats will house offices, ateliers, or workshops for creative and social enterprises. Since a few weeks a Villagepump is installed at the Ceuvel. The Villagepump is connected to the rainwater harvesting system and transforms the collected rainwater into clean drinking water. It is our first Villagepump installed in the Netherlands. |

From the start of the development of the Villagepump, plastic manufacturer Sabic was involved in selecting the right material for the key parts of the Villagepump. Sabic is still supporting and monitoring our injection moulding process including the present production runs. And we are very glad with this support. Besides this collaboration in manufacturing, Sabic has selected Villagepump as a show case for the use of their materials in innovative products. At the NPE 2015, one of the largest plastic fairs in the world that was held from 23rd till 27th of March in Miami, Sabic presented the Villagepump at their booth to show the world our collaboration. |

4. Design for Sustainability |
|
In close collaboration with ADI (Associazione per il disegno industtrial) Sabic organized at March 23, a Design for Sustainability workshop - an interactive forum targeting Industrial Designers, Product & Material developers and Engineering Managers. Based on a model created by the United Nations, called Design for Sustainability, the workshop aims to inspire the Industrial Design community to embed the model's principles when designing and developing a product. The objective was to support sustainability and economic efficiency by doing everything better -together- than is done today through the value chain. |
The Villagepump was used as an example of a product that meets nearly all the requirements of a sustainable product. The Villagepump offers clean drinking water for a low price, without using energy, and serves the people at the bottom-of-the-pyramid. The Villagepump can be maintained in a easy way, and all critical parts can be easily replaced. With an expected life time of 10 years, Villagepump offers a sustainable, long lasting solution for providing clean drinking water. |

4. New distributor for Colombia and Ecuador: Clean Water Technology, Inc. and Sanitron |
|
Since the start of this year we have appointed the LA based company Clean Water Technonolgy, Inc. as distributor for Colombia and Ecuador. Ariel Lechter with his team explores the possibilities to get in short term a substantial installed base in these countries. |
For the territory of Ecuador Clean Water Technology will collaborate with Sanitron, based in Quito. Sanitron is representing already Pentair and General Electric for Ecuador. Also for the territories of Guatamala, Panama and Costa Rica you can put your request forward to Clean Water Technology. |
