Hello,

I'm having trouble converting NOAA daily climate summaries to .DLY files. I've tried using APEXEditor but receive time-out errors when I try the 'Get Files' button. Following the Weather Import manual specific to NOAA file incorporation has not worked for me either, as I've also encountered error messages when working with the Weather Import GUI.

My most fruitful attempt so far has been to write python code to convert the NOAA .txt files to the .DLY format described in the APEX manual and then use the Excel CroPMan Weather option through the Weather Import GUI. In this case, a .DLY file was written but completely blank.

I was wondering if there are any other resources or procedures I have missed.

Thanks!
Maya

Maya,
It is a long time since last time I used the Weather Import GUI...
First of all, are you working with any GUI to run APEX? Can you run the model directly from the executable and only use the text files? If yes, I can help you in creating the DLY text file. I think you can write a Python code to directly create the text file with the DLY extension.

Let me know.

Hi Luca,
Yes, I am planning to run the model directly from the executable.

Thanks!

Which version of APEX are you running? APEX1501?
Since you are planning to run the model directly from the executable, you can create the daily file converting the NOAA to DLY creating a Python program. You can even do it with Excel by saving the file as space delimited (.prn). Just make sure that each column in Excel has the correct with to match the number of characters (spaces included) allowed for each field of the DLY file.

Let me know if you need more information.

I'm running APEX1501. I was originally under the impression that I needed to use WeatherImport to convert .txt to .DLY so that is very helpful, thank you!
