Hi,

I am trying to use the feature to input hourly rainfall to utilize the Green & Ampt infiltration model in ArcAPEX. I have set IHY to 1, DTHY to 1 (since I am using hourly rainfall) and INFL to 4 in the control file. I have also added the *.HLY file to the RFDTLST.DAT. After doing these, I get the attached error. The model works fine without the hourly data.

Please find attached the relevant files in the link for your reference. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
Looking at the error message you have attached here, I believe you can fix the error by changing one value in the APEXDIM.DAT file. You should change the ninth value on the only line of the file. We usually set it at 1000 but I know that in some versions and interfaces it is set to 1.
Please, give it a try and let me know if it solves the problem.

Hi Luca,
Thank you for your quick response. It did work after changing the 9th value from 1 to 1000. However, It works only with INFL values 2 and 3. It gives an error for INFL 4. For INFL value 4, is it recommended that the hourly rainfall file should contain all hours during the entire simulation period (or just during the rainfall hours)?

Dear Sayantan,
I am sorry but I lost track of this topic and this is why I am replying so late.
To be honest, I have never worked with sub-daily data but, looking at the model source code, it seems that the model will read the sub-daily precipitation file every day of the simulation so, I would say that information on precipitation is required for the entire period of the simulation. You can find some information in the APEX user manual.
Please, give it a try, let me know what you find out and I will be happy to continue to try to help you.

Best,
Luca
