Hello Everyone,

I am currently running EPIC V1102 simulations for 25 years and encountering an issue with irrigation. Despite defining different irrigation schemes (manual, automatic, and dryland) in EPIC control file and in OPC file, the simulated outputs for soil moisture, soil temperature, and ET remain almost identical across all scenarios.

I would greatly appreciate guidance on:

  1. Why irrigation may not be affecting soil moisture, ET, or soil temperature.

  2. Steps to verify that irrigation is actually applied and infiltrating.

  3. Any known issues or best practices for testing irrigation response in EPIC.

Thank you very much for your time and assistance.

Sincerely,

Janani

Dear Janani,

You can check if the irrigation water is actually applied during the simulation. You can find this information in the ACY output file under the column IRGA.

Let us know what you find.
