Hi all,
I'm trying to estimate water balance based on .SAD output variables. I've seen a couple of other posts with similar questions, but they seemed to be using different versions of APEX so I thought I'd start a new conversation. I wanted to (a) address a differences between the .OUT file and the manual and (b) confirm the equation I've come up with so far.

(a) The .OUT file also cites the water content of surface litter (SWLT) as a component of the water balance, but I wasn't able to find a corresponding variable in the user manual's list of output variables (table 2.9). Is it under a different name?

(b) This is the water balance equation I'm using so far with the daily output variables (minus the SWLT component):
precipitation (PRCP) + snowfall (SNOF) + irrigation applied (IRGA) + inflow to root zone (QIN) + subsurface flow from subarea above (SSFI) + point source flow volume (PSOQ) - snowmelt (SNOM) - evapotranspiration (ET) - surface runoff (Q) - lateral subsurface flow (SSF) - percolation below root zone (PRK) - flow from drainage system (QDR) - quick return flow (QRF) - reservoir back water (RSBK) - pipe flow horizontal (CPVH) - floodplain infiltration (FPF) - irrigation distribution loss (IRDL) - change in soil water in total profile (SW).

Thanks in advance!
Best,
Maya

Dear Maya,
It will take me some time to answer your questions. I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Please, bring this conversation back again if you do not receive an answer within a few weeks.

Hi there, just wanted to follow up on this conversation.

I am also still having trouble getting the SWLT to show up in the output files at daily time steps. It does not appear in the List of Output Variables the User can choose from (table 2.9) in the user manual, either.

Thanks,
Maya

Maya,
SWST should be available in the daily subarea output file (SAD) after adding variable ID number 16 on line 7 of the APEX print file.
