Hi all… thanks Krystle and Erin for yesterday!

There was some talk about a model of a Board Approved course… I have attached the one we recently did for our Garden and Gather Course here on Haida Gwaii.  This is what it looked like before it was parsed to send to the ministry for MoE approval.

Warmly, Daniel Schulbeck

Hi Daniel and folks,

Great to share our journey with you all last week.
Thank you Daniel for attaching your board approved course. So exciting!

To follow up from Erin and I's presentation, attached is our Farm Studies (10,11,12) and Food & Community Leadership 11 (previously named Agriculture Leadership).

To reiterate our process to get these developed included:
  • Vice Principal took lead and support to develop two new classes at Howe Sound Secondary School
  • Myself, a farmer, and the Food Studies teacher co-developed the class framework
  • VP took it to board of directors for sd48 for approval
  • After the first year of farm studies, teachers and students presented their experiences to the board for them to learn first hand of the impact it had.
  • Erin does have and continues to build up lesson plans, so thinking we can look to make those available.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Best,
Krystle
