Marcos 11:1-11  -  Juan 12:12-16  -  Salmo 118:1-2, 19-29   

Después del exilio, los profetas judíos sabían dos cosas: YHWH había dejado Jerusalén (Ezequiel 11), y YHWH regresaría a Jerusalén (Isaías 52.8; Malaquías 3.1).  Con palabras y con hechos, Jesús de Nazaret se proclamó a sí mismo como el cumplimiento de esta profecía. Como el Mesías, él era el bendito Rey “que viene en el nombre del Señor” (Salmo 118.26), trayendo con él salvación y paz (Zacarías 9.9-10).  El pueblo de Israel, comprendiendo esto bien, le dio la bienvenida en Jerusalén con toda la pompa simbólica y algarabía apropiada para el regreso de un rey de Israel victorioso. (Mateo 11.7-10; Juan 12.13-15).  Lo que ellos no entendieron bien fue que el regreso de YHWH a Jerusalén significaba la destrucción de la ciudad en la próxima generación, y que Su trono terminaría siendo una cruz.
