Dear RV,

I have gone through SV’s mail of today suggesting to you that “it would be better for us to focus on the suburbs of TVM (which is convenient for both of us)” since the response from members to the site identified at PGT has been minimal.

Until the exact site of the project is identified, accepted by all and confirmed, it is premature at this stage to talk about takers and non-takers to this project.   The fact that the response to the site already selected at PGT has so far been minimal clearly shows non-acceptance of this site by majority of the members.   We, therefore, need to look for alternate sites in and around PGT itself and only in the event of our failure to find a suitable site there, should we change the area of search to any other district zone, which change again should be acceptable to all.

There are other factors which are contributory to this lack of any positive response from other members too.  As I had mentioned in my earlier mail of 24th Oct, I would like to reiterate that “basic infrastructure like tar-roads, electricity, water, transport; then medical facilities, shopping centre, banks, etc. at a walkable distance (or at least within 3-5 kilometres) should be in place before-hand,   else no one would be interested to construct their houses and physically move in.  However fascinating the ‘agraharam’ concept of living may be, which in your view is also ‘staying away from the maddening crowd’, there is no denying the fact that our members are already enjoying these facilities and comforts (or more) at their existing places of stay and that too without having to be much dependent on others – in embracing the ‘agraharam concept of living’ will they, in their failing old age, become more dependent on others, hence more burdensome, and will they have to make greater struggles to reach out to these basic facilities?  These questions, and many other, must be overweighing in their minds which clearly put them off to come forward with any positive response to the project in general and to the site selected in particular.   Many members are at the moment just watching how things are developing and time alone will tell how many will eventually participate in this project – some only financially (to be excused later for not being able to move in) and a few physically.
