Hi all,

We have completed the migration of observations of domesticated species. Since it is now possible to indicate domesticated species with a different scientific name, the "is domesticated" checkbox is no longer useful and will be removed in a future release.

Migrations:

Cats
Many projects used Felis silvestris (wild cat) for domestic cat, while the correct name is Felis catus. We have changed all Felis silvestris observations to Felis catus, and made that the only available option to annotate in projects. You can always add Felis silvestris back. Contact us if your project contained true wild cat observations.

Chickens
We have changed all Gallus gallus (jungle fowl) observations to Gallus gallus domesticus (chicken) and made that the only available option to annotate.

Horses
We have changed all Equus ferus (extinct tarpan horse) observations to Equus caballus and made that the only available option to annotate (Equus ferus is removed from species list).

Dogs
This is a bit more complicated. For the projects where we could reasonably assume there were no wolves, we have changed all Canis lupus (wolf) observations to Canis lupus familiaris (dog) and made that the only available option to annotate.

For the projects with a chance of wolves, we have only reassigned Canis lupus (wolf) observations that were marked domesticated to Canis lupus familiaris (dog). It might be good to verify these in your project (e.g. by exporting the data).

Other reassignment (observations were verified)
