Multiple behaviours

Dear All, 

For my thesis i want to do continuous focal sampling for videos and foto's in Agouti. To do this i have to be able to select multiple behaviors, which i can do, but then i can not differentiate between frames from the same observation. What i want to know is: how many times in one observation is a focal animal vigilant (for example). Now, i can only say that they were vigilant at least once. I also want to know the time spend on behaviors in one observation. Does Agouti include a tool for that or do i have to note it down separately?

Hi Roos,

we have the same problem.

for vigilance we used categories Vig1-Vig4 and used it in 25% of the sequence pictures (sometimes one vigilant behaviour is just 1-3 pictures, sometimes it is several seconds). 

For all other behaviours we did not separate (and in vigilance it also did not work really well)

You could also add different classes of the same behaviour (vig1x, vig2x etc. walking1x, walking2x etc. )

That´s the only possibility I see.

Or you will have to separate your sequences into single pictures (not just 120s as the divider bot say <1s)

Hello Oliver, 

Thank you for your reply. My apologies, it took me so long to respond. 

That is unfortunate... I am going to try your idea with the different classes of the same behaviour, that seems indeed like the most suitable option. Thank you for the tip!

I have suggested to people from Agouti to make the behaviour section the same as the species section (there you can mark how many and add extra species). Hopefully that could work in the future.
