Dear Friends,

We hope you can join us as we begin our 2011-2012 season of the
Agitprop Reading and Performance Series on Saturday, October 1st at
7pm with two dynamic poets: Julie Sophia Paegle and Chad Sweeney. For

Julie Sophia Paegle teaches at California State University, San
Bernardino, where she is Poetry Coordinator for the MFA program. She
holds an MFA and a PhD in literature and creative writing from the
University of Utah. She taught as a poet in the schools and for the
University of Alaska-Fairbanks's Upward Bound program, served as
poetry editor for Quarterly West, and worked as a dog-handler and a
wrangler in Alaska. Her first book, Torch Song Tango Choir
was published by The University of Arizona Press. Julie lives in the
San Bernardino Mountains with her husband and two sons.

Chad Sweeney is the author of four books of poetry, including Parable
ofHide and Seek (Alice James, 2010), Arranging the Blaze (Anhinga,
2009), and Wolf Milk (Forklift Books, 2012, bilingual Spanish/
English). Sweeney’s poems have appeared in Best American Poetry, The
Pushcart Prize Anthology and Garrison Keillor’s The Writer’s Almanac.
Chad is co-translator of the Selected Poemsof contemporary Iranian
poet H.E. Sayeh (White Pine, 2011) and coeditor of Parthenon West
Review. He teaches in the MFA program at California State University,
San Bernardino and lives in Redlands with his wife, poet Jennifer K.
Sweeney and their son Liam.

Agitprop readings are free, but wine and donations to the gallery are
always welcome.
