I think we should package it as a separate package (for example, jdk7),
and leave mainline with jdk6 until Java 7 will become standard de-facto.

It will be great, some software already want JDK7 for unknown reasons...
And +1 for putting in testing, it is not so stable ATM

btw, what that dismission means to us? Should we remove jdk6, or that
change applies only to jdk7?
Anyway, due to these licensing changes, we definitely should switch to
openjdk in near future (or, maybe, immediately - java maintainers,
please find out what's happening there)

Did some lookaround. License dismission applies only to JDK7, since they
think it isn't required now, bcoz openjdk is ok.
So: leave jdk6 for now, and prepare for openjdk7.

Yes, I'll prepare to maintain the OpenJDK7.

Just in case anyone is still following this thread: all openjdk7 abuilds are available here: https://github.com/K900/abuilds/tree/master/wip/openjdk7
I've been using it for a couple of weeks already and it feels quite nice, but there are still a few packaging issues I want to get sorted out and some apps (e.g. IDEA) that don't play nice with OpenJDK at all. Building it takes a load of time even with ccache, so I'll probably be updating it at weekends.

Also I don't really know if we need IcedTea stable tarballs, as hg compiles are somewhat stable and I have no idea when are they actually releasing IcedTea 2.0 we use now.
