Agile at Scale SIG - Scaling before Agile: what can we learn from it

Long before the Agile software development movement declared its manifesto in 2001, companies were already delivering big software projects. And what about big teams beyond software development, how did they do it? How did they scale up/out? What can we learn from them? How is that different from what Agile-at-Scale proposes today? Knowing the differences will help us in preparing to learn about the Agile scaling frameworks such as SAFe, Nexus, LeSS and others in the next few SIG meetings.
