We at CA Technologies are continuing to expand our Development team and are looking for a specific individual with the talent, energy and drive to work in a co-located collaborative agile environment delivering significant product innovation.  This is a chance to make an important and dramatic impact for a seasoned Quality Assurance Engineer who has experience making test a successful part of a cross-functional team.   In addition, this is an opportunity to work with some of the most brilliant minds in the field of Computer Performance Engineering to translate their Intellectual Property into highly usable software addressing the needs of our customers as they embrace Virtualization/Cloud strategies in their data centers.  Finally, we have limited QA team members, but Developers that are enthusiastically seeking your wisdom and have no qualms about doing whatever it takes to ship quality software. 

 

At this point, the relationship will be on a contracting basis, but our team disregards such structures as we focus on creating high-performing self-managed teams above all else.

 

Primary Responsibilities

·         Work with developers and technical writers to implement and test high value features and product functionality that enhances CA Technologies’ products which provide Enterprise Capacity Management for Virtualization and Cloud computing with rich analytical tools based on large quantities of performance metric data (yes, that would be the trendy “big data” keyword).

·         Ensure a high level of quality in complex enterprise and web-based applications by using current tools and methodologies as well as mentoring other team members—primarily software developers 

·         Lead the creation, extension and application of testing infrastructure

·         Design and execute test plans including Black, White, and Gray Box, Performance, Stress, System, and Integration testing with a focus on prioritization of business value

 

Required Qualifications

·         Background in Web Application testing and associated frameworks

·         Extensive experience with automation testing including UI and web services

·         Experience with web applications that make heavy use of data stored in a database / data warehouse with commensurate knowledge of the use of database debugging procedures using tools such as Toad, SQL Developer, along with standard SQL

·         Experience making test a successful part of an Agile product development environment

·         5+ years of software testing experience focused on web-based software product development

·         Experience using test automation tools and/or writing automated test scripts

·         Exceptional oral and written communication skills along with ability to work with others as a team

·         Self-starter who is highly motivated along high quality product delivery goals

 

Desired Qualifications

·         UI Automation Testing for applications that heavily rely on the Google Web Toolkit (GWT) with rich visualization frameworks such as Adobe Flex, Ext JS, Ext GWT, etc.

·         Experience testing analytical software that provides forecasting, trending, and predictive analysis

·         Experience with distributed source code management and continuous build/deployment process using tools such as Mercurial, Hudson, etc.

·         Development Experience with some of the following – Java, C#, Selenium, Ant, JavaScript, Perl, PHP, Shell Scripting or Python

·         Experience with modern software engineering tools such as distributed source code management (e.g Mercurial, Git), continuous integration/deployment, etc.

·         Performance Automation Testing

·         Familiarization with one or more of the various Systems Management Software/Vendors (CA Spectrum, HP OpenView, IBM Tivoli, BMC PATROL, etc.) 

·         A BIG plus would be working experience with any type of Configuration Management Database (CMDB) such as CA CMDB,  BMC Atrium, or HP uCMDB

·         Familiarization with server virtualization to include tools and technologies such as VMWare, Xen, EC2

·         Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field
