Hey All,

Just a quick note to confirm that the next Agile Melbourne event has been organised for Tuesday 8th June. I'm really excited that Steve Hayes has agreed to present prior to his imminent departure to the UK. The overview is below - please feel free to send on and hopefully I'll see you there....

Where we went wrong - Musings on creativity, motivation, and the relationship between the customer and development roles

The balance of power between the customer and development roles in software development is a recurring theme, and agile processes are no exception. Steve will look at how this balance has evolved over the last decade, how it affects the programming role, and things you might like to consider for your next project.

Although the programming role will be used for examples the content is equally applicable to other non-customer roles. There will be lots of observation, speculation and food for thought, and almost no prescriptions at all!

Steve Hayes
Steve Hayes has been developing software for almost 20 years, working in a wide range of positions and geographic locations, including Silicon Valley and Wall St. Steve is particularly interested in skills transfer and mentoring. Since 1999 Steve has been intimately involved in extreme programming, as a coach, consultant and author.

Steve founded Cogent Consulting, a Melbourne-based company that specialises in Agile software development and consulting. He is well known in Australia as a speaker and participant in Agile software development, particularly in the Java and Ruby communities.

Steve is known for his opinionated rants and is sure not to disappoint!

Please join us in seeing Steve off and wishing him the best with his new opportunity.

Thanks,

Rich
