Dear Friends:
Couple of weeks back, A4A wrote a mail with the subject line “stop ullu banaoing” A4A tried to point out how for over 8 months there has not been a SINGLE APJC meeting, even when there are burning issues facing the travel trade. Compare this with the 3 meetings held in Aug-Sept, 2013 to bring in WPS and advance it to Jan14 from Jun15. Interestingly, there have been “special interest” groups sprouting from time to time to DIVERT the attention of ordinary agents from the acts of omission and commission, by TAAI & TAFI, who have been primarily responsible for most of the woes that we are facing today.
All the valiant attempts by IAAI to bring the industry back on track or right the wrongs done by vested interests are either met with deafening silence or scornfully ignored. Simultaneously some quixotic suggestions are floated to take us for a ride, knowing fully well these are absolutely untenable. (one such is in the trailing mail by the same humble worker of TAAI, who unabashedly sang the paeans and sought support to a “self elected” president, knowing fully well that he had illegally assumed office until the Hon’ble court had to intervene).
A4A therefore, would like YOU to objectively consider and discern the following:
1. How can we ask the Government – present or future – for 5% commission, when TAAI & TAFI have categorically opted for TF in Sept, 2008 and further in June 2012 have agreed and signed agreement with AI & 9W to reduce commission to 1% and substitute “TF” to compensate for the loss? Haven’t they agreed for “TF” with Indigo as well?
2. Again, in July, 2013, didn’t these worthies agree for WPS effective from June 2015 but advanced the same to 1st January, 2014, in an extraordinary meeting on 3/9/2013?
Unfortunately, our own Representatives in APJC have tied our hands and feet into knots and this has to be UNDONE by OUR OWN REPRESETATIVES in the RECONSTITUTED APJC. This is where, the timely circular of IAAI on this subject merits consideration. Can all those industry stalwarts, who are TRULY CONCERNED about the welfare of the Travel Agents, take the same forward rather than putting forward unrealistic suggestions?
Coming to the commission part, once again, the initiative of IAAI to seek direction from court to Secretary MoCA, to issue a similar circular /order like the one issued to the Cargo Agents merits consideration. Why, Why, can’t the Travel Trade and more specially TAAI & TAFI cannot support IAAI on this front and join them to ensure a strong representation? Or do they have any hidden agenda still?
In the interest of Travel Trade, A4A strongly urges each and every Travel Agent to support these constructive moves of IAAI, by writing to them and better still by becoming IAAI members. This can make a positive difference to YOU and the Industry.
Rgds
