Congratulations to TAAI & TAFI and in particular to the Acting President of TAAI, who has successfully argued for the re-implementation of the Joint Bank Guarantee.

The Acting President of TAAI, has taken a lot of pain to explain, how this has been achieved and how the APJC members (TAAI & TAFI representatives) have successfully persuaded the Airlines to accept the Joint Bank Guarantee Scheme. Praise worthy indeed.

However, when you read through the detailed circular, one cannot but notice that the beneficiaries of this JBG scheme are no more than 200 in number. That is less than 10% of all the IATA Accredited Travel Agents in India.

If only the representatives of TAAI & TAFI had taken as much effort and interest to ensure that the Weekly is reversed, the benefit would have been shared by all the 100% members nearly about 3000 of us.

But alas, they would rather BARTER THE PUBLIC GOOD (of reversing the weekly)  FOR THE PRIVATE BENEFIT (of Jt BG) of a few. It is a perennial conflict of Public Good against Private Benefit. Public Good of reversing the Weekly is NOT in the interest of the Airlines and their minions. Consequently, the vested interests, which had so subtly brought it in, would not have it reversed.

On the contrary, the Joint Bank Guarantee would certainly swell the coffers of the Associations and would help a handful of those agents, who are always there to vote for the leadership. Bravo well done. You must reward those who are with you and not the AAM AGENT, who is invisible and is suffering  silently.

This goes to prove, that TAAI & TAFI would only look after the welfare of a few agents and not of the Industry. God Bless them.

Rgds
