Dear Friends:

As the festival of Holi is nearing, we have a RAY of HOPE, in the appended mail from IAAI. The reasoning is simple and there is no beating around the Bush. We need this 5% Commission and our right for ticket stock.

Can we expect the Travel Trade to rally behind IAAI so that this dream of ours is realized ? Is it too much to ask TAAI & TAFI leadership to measure up to the challenge and SUPPORT  IAAI, for the sake survival of Travel Industry in India ?

If the answer is YES, then we would have BURNT the demons of selfishness, vested interests and ego, in the bonfire of HOLI and truly, the COLOURFUL future awaits us.

Happy Holi / Coourful RANG PANCHAMI

IAAI/194-14/PST/COMM/CIR
13th March 2014

To: All IATA Accredited Agents in India

Sub: Update XIV on Restoration of Agency Commission

Ref:  New Petition filed by IAAI

Dear All,

While the hearing is pending on W.P. ( C ) No. 25752 / 2013 at Hon High Court of Kerala through which we have prayed the Hon. Court to direct the Regulator-  DGCA to implement, execute  and enforce the MoCA Secretary Order of 16th Sept 2013, IAAI filed another  new Petition on 11th March 2014 to ensure 5% agency commission.

In 2007, Government of India had given approval for adoption of IATA Resolution 815, with two reservations to protect the smaller and ordinary Cargo agents in India.  Civil Aviation directed Air India   to ensure 5% commission to all cargo agents by all airlines and mandated that every cargo agents should be provided with airway bill stock of all airlines operating in India.

Based on this, IAAI had approached Civil Aviation Secretary and DGCA  on 10th February, 2014, but response was negative.

Hence, further to our WP 25752/2013, based on the unanimous decision taken at our AGM held on 8th March 2014 at Ambassador Pallava Hotel, Chennai, IAAI have approached Hon High  Court of Kerala on 11th March 2014, requesting Hon Court to issue directives to  Civil Aviation authorities  to issue an order similar to AV 13030/7/2006A dated  29.08. 2007 directing National Carrier to ensure:

Ø
The minimum commission of 5% shall be paid to all IATA Accredited Travel Agents/Intermediaries by all Airlines operating in India under the IATA Resolution 818g.

Ø  All Agents/ intermediaries shall be given ticket stock by all Airlines operating in India.

This will ensure 5% commission to all travel agents from all airlines operating in India and also eliminate the restrictions imposed through TAP, (which was illegally processed through APJC-India), enabling every agent to get ticket stock of all airlines operating in India as a statutory right.
