Respected Presidents of Travel Agents' Associations!

May I endeavour to place before you the agony and frustration of small Travel agents, who over a period of time have been subjected to systematic assaults such as Zero Commission, TAP, Web disparity, Exorbitant Cancellation Charges etc. These unjust and unethical practices have driven the poor Travel Agent to either to close the shop or meekly give in and lead a most demoralised and irrelevant existence

While the Associations portrayed a semblance of Unity and protested initially, later, meekly gave in and proclaimed that these are international practices and suggested that the Travel Agents should diversify / evolve as Travel Advisors and charge a fee to the customer.

Now comes the final blow that will ELIMINATE the travel agent. As per the attached News Report, each of the Travel Agent will have to shell out US$ 18/- PER TICKET, as distribution cost. Naturally, the ticket on the Airline Website will be $18 cheaper in addition to already existing disparity.

It is noticed that TAAI and TAFI are totally concentrating and promoting Joint Bank Guarantee, as this gives them the Deposit from those opting for JBC to add to their already huge coffers, while IAAI, is still fighting a lonely court battle for Commission and restructuring the APJC.

Can you gentlemen get down from your high horses and see the ground reality faced by your members and tell Lufthansa very bluntly, to stop this unethical practice ? It is a matter of time before the other airlines follow suit, as in the case of Zero Commission. So strong, concerted action is called for.

Please do not disappoint the Travel Agents this time at least.
