Calendar Sharing Using Calendarserver

I notice that the CalendarServer project has implemented their own
sharing mechanism; are there any plans or likelihood of this being
implemented in AgenDAV?

This follows on from another thread (in AgenDAV general) where it was determined that Calendarserver doesn't implement support for WebDAV ACL manipulation (to share calendars), that they don't intend to, and furthermore suggest that it would be a bad idea to start (but don't explain why; if anyone knows, I'm interested).
