Can someone explains to me like I was 2 years old how to set up a race with 2 (same location) live splits + finish line? Using Arrow live results

Ok, timing a 50k, course is someone like a lollipop loop. we are putting a timing location at an aid station that sees runners twice, once out, then back towards the finish line.

Thanks

I think you have it set up correctly based on a private email I received but I'll post the steps here for clarity and for anyone else checking this thread out in the future.

It's my understanding you will have one laptop out on the course tracking 2 split times and one laptop at the finish line tracking just the finishing time. If that's true, then here are the steps to take:
  1. Create the race in ART as a 3 lap race and name the split whatever you want them to called on Arrow Live Results.
  2. Push the race up to Arrow so that it has the event and knows how many splits in total should be displayed.
  3. Now you can copy the database over to your other computer.
  4. On each computer, change the number of "Laps" to whatever number of splits that computer will actually track.
    • So the finish line computer will be a "1" lap race and the computer on the course will be set up as a 2 lap race. Rename the splits appropriately on each computer again and make sure the Distance and Gap time are set correctly.
Since both computers have the race linked up to Arrow, as long as they're both online, the splits will be sent up to Arrow by either computer in the order that they occur.

My one concern with that procedure is that when we go back on step 4 update the laps to a new name/lap count, wouldnt that also update ALR when the splits are pushed on laptop 2 which is the one recording remote splits.... ie, after the race starts on laptop 1, I copy the database to laptop 2, we then take laptop two to its location (mile 10 & 25), before the first runner arrive, we update the lap count to 2 laps, wouldnt that also update ALR?

When you do the initial push up to Arrow, nothing else in the software can change the number of laps or the description of the laps on Arrow. So you're free to make any change you want to the races in ART afterwards. As each computer captures splits, it simply sends the Athlete info and the DateTime split that was captured and Arrow simply puts it in the first slot (split) available.
