I see on Atlas RFID that many of the Dogbone foam backed chips are back ordered due to Global Supply Shortages.
What foam bib tags are you using and where are you buying them in the US and cost?
Thank you.

Hi
I just purchase straight forward tags and then use regular door seal foam and affix to back of tag, I normally go with 3mm to 5mm thick.
You dont need to use much at all on each tag. I use 3 tiny blocks , one on each end and one in the middle , the aim is just to keep the tag away from the body to stop detuning.
It works out a very inexpensive option but I wont lie, there is a time cost to it, I dont think I would like to do it if my chips werent made for reuse ( some of my tags are 6 years old and still perfect)
Best regards and best of luck

Our nonprofit trail group has used the  SIVA Custom Foam Backed DogBone RFID Tag (M730) from Atlas with success. About .77 each when we just bought 1000. Haven't compared price to buying separate backers and assembling, but this is 100 percent volunteer work and until more people get integrated into timing, I'm going to take the easy route.

Last year it took about 6-8 weeks to get our tags and this order is already getting the "we're working on it" emails for delay.

Thanks Ron. Atlas quoted me $4/tag for SIVA NXP UCODE 8 foam backed Dogbones or $.62 for 5000.  I'm not sure what the difference is but the M730's are more affordable in smaller quantities.

Same ... perfect fit, easy to use and when you buy some you have enough for years!

I have always cut my own foam. It is a process, but one I can easily do while watching TV. I normally do a lot during the slow times. The money I save makes it worth it.

Is it required to cover the whole tag with foam, just the chip, or just the aluminum portions. The foam adds a considerable amount of bulk and it's hard to stack them. I have a race with about 600 next weekend and will be adding some foam but I wonder how minimum can I be or do I have to cover the whole chip. I use M750 chips.

Goal is to keep the chip away from a conductive material.  Best is to cover everything.  Same essentially to cover everything silver.  However, we have had great success with covering most of the chip which forces it away from sweaty bodies.
