I just plugged in my Nikon D5100 for the first time and I tested it with the system. While the camera looks like it is taking the pictures (flash and sound), the pictures are not being saved on the memory card nor on the computer.

Am i missing something?

Thanks!

I was expecting to get my hands on one today so that I can test it out, but the guy that was supposed to bring it to me didn't come through. My training partner said he has one and he's going to bring it to our track workout on Wednesday.

I hate to ask, but just so that I can rule it out, did you select D5100 in the Settings screen?

The software simply tells the camera to take a photo, nothing more, so the photo should be residing on the memory card. If it's looks and sounds like it took a photo then I can't think of any reason why it shouldn't be on the memory card.

Funny thing is that I have had this camera for as long as i have had the software, but was not aware of the new update with the access to use Nikon cameras until today.

I reformatted the memory card just in case, still nothing, the screen does show that its connected to PC. It doesnt save any pictures while plugged in. Not only from the software but even when pressing the shutter button.

One thing that is strange is that while plugged in I can see the camera in my computer, under PC, but when i open the camera icon it wont show even what's in it.... or any folders. Wonder if the camera needs a software update.

Are you running the update I pushed out today? It wasn't untilt today's update that I added the Nikon interface into the Clock screen. I also tweaked the interface setup/test features in the Settings screen with this update as well. So if you didn't update your software today then I would try that.

Does it save photos to the memory card when you manually trigger it while it's not connected to the computer? If not, then I wonder if there is a setting in the camera that needs to be changed. Do Nikon cameras have internal storage that maybe the photo is being saved to?

This Nikon does not have an internal memory, I dont know about others. The camera does save all the other pictures I take when not plugged in.

I downloaded the software this morning and then added the activation code you sent me.

I realize it was an update since i went to set up my email and printer and saw the option to select Nikon cameras.

I have tried to mess with the setting but have not found anything related to it.

Latest update:

So after trying several times, closing the software, testing it out etc etc.

The software was able to take a few pics, but it was not consistent. It saved about 3 out of 50 times i pressed the space bar. Another thing, when i removed the sd card while having the camera plugged in, the camera tells me "No SD CARD INSERTED" and wont allow me to take pics, even while pressing the shutter button, but the software still flashes and takes the pics, without an sd card inserted.
