Setting up a laptop and the reader will not connect when I am connected to WIFI. Years ago, I remember this happening. I cannot, for the life of me, remember what I did to correct the issue.

If I disconnect from WIFI, the reader turns green and can see antennas. Of course that does me no good when trying to do live results.

anyone else know the fix?

If you use a wired connection to the reader and also a separate WiFi connection to the internet then Windows ( in its self acclaimed ultimate wisdom) may try to send traffic  for the Internet out on the wired connection as it assumes that wired is best.

You can try using an USB to Ethernet adaptor and have a wired connection to your router.
Don't use Automatic self assigned IP addresses on your router.
Set the reader IP address ( you are using fixed IP addresses?) to a different subnet than the WiFi router.

Remember Windows think it knows best even when it doesn't

True but at least Windows also you to control the network priority (metric) in these kind of situations.

I used to do this back in the day (because Finish Lynx timing cameras get confused when trying to load when there's a wired network and and a wireless network active at the same time; sometimes cameras will try to boot to the wireless network if metric is handled automatically).
