I'm still having issues with having multiple races going at the same time and having chip reads pulling the time from the wrong race and I feel like I'm missing something simple.

Todays example...

The initial issue was that the bibs I got were programmed with the wrong #'s. So the 5k bibs were 5001-5500 but the tags were encoded as 15001-15500. So people started coming through the finish and the tags were read but clearly didn't match any registered runners.

So this is where the issue comes in. The Half had started about 21 minutes before the 5k. The times that were recorded for the 15xxx bibs were the half time I'm assuming because that's the race that was selected in the Public Display tab.
Now I changed the bib # by removing the 1 at the start which changed the bib number to match the actual registrant but the time stayed as the half time even though they were in the 5k and the 5k time hadn't even reached that time. I thought the software was smart enough to know and then ask if the time should be changed?

Anyway, i resolved it by going in and changing all the 5k bib #'s by adding a 1 (was not fast for 361 registrants).

So was hoping someone could give some insight if I did something wrong and could have resolved the time issue differently?

Clearly I should have checked the bibs beforehand

Just adding a sort of "me too" to this one. However, it happened in real-time without any bib number swaps or numbering issues happening before hand.

Last week I timed a 5K, 10K, Marathon going on at the same time. A 10Ker got a timestamp as if he was in the Half Marathon that started two hours before the 10K. His time ended up being marked as 3 hours when he crossed the finish line instead of the lower 10k time of about an hour.

True William, i've had it happen a lot since I time a lot of races where there are multiple races at the same time that don't start at the same time. Just the first time I remembered to post and ask about it.

I also had this happen, but I think I figured out why.....  If you change the athlete in the Timing screen (right click and change race) I think it all works as expected (giving the option to say which race they started with and adjusting the start time), however if you change the race the athlete is in in the athlete list (not in the timing screen) after the race has started then I think it just keeps the start time as is without any messages.

I may be wrong, but I think that is the case.

I'll test that next time but that seems odd as the bib # was only in the  5k and not the half so I'd think the software would have known that.
