ok, I had a couple of weird issues this weekend. So I wanted to run it past this think tank in case anyone has a similar issue or maybe help you trouble shoot if you see this in the future.

It's always the small, but weirdly different races. This 5K had 2 price structures. One for 17 and under and one for 18 and over. Should have set up a discount exception, but I got lazy and just setup a separate category and had the intention of simply merging the 2 events prior to race start on race day.  On the awards side, the RD wanted to do overall male and overall female, but have all the age groups mixed gender (combined gender).

Also there was a Fun Run they wanted to start after the 5K was started, so 3 min after the 5K start, I started the Fun Run.

I need to point out this was a manually timed race. I do a lot of those.

As the runners started to come in, I was typing in the number, hitting enter and capturing the time with the bib. When 2 people, or more, were close, I would get he bib on the first person and just hit enter to grab the time on the other ones and add the bib when it was slow. At some point, I realized that when I hit the enter button twice, it was grabbing a time from both clocks. So when I had two people finish together, they had a 3 min separation. This happened a lot and thankfully, we always start clocks on whole numbers so we were easily able to correct this. But wow. That has got to be a bug.

OK, next issue, I didn't notice when I combined the events before the start of the race or at any time up to me reading the results, but when I combined the 2 events, it made everyone female. So I had to pause the awards, run back over, guess mostly by what names sounded male, (I don't need to tell you how dicey that can be in this day and age), and run the reports again. Thankfully, I think I got it right.

This was a small event, but had this been a larger race, it would have been a real problem.

Version: 6.5

It could be I found the perfect storm with these two issue, but I wanted to share them either way.   Tim

When a time is captured manually like that (with no bib # assigned), the software of course doesn't know which race it is for, so it assigns a time based on whatever race is selected in the Public Display tab. However when you add a bib # to that time it should auto-adjust the time for you based on whatever race that bib # belongs to.

I also just tested merging two races together and the genders were correct after the merge. I was running the newest update : 1.6.6.2
