I am looking at buying the Flash timing  FT-RFID package, and using it with Hy-tek to score cross country meets.  In the past I have used Ipico system for large meets.

Flash Timing tells me I can import the raw timing data (time/chip info) from Agee into Hy-tek to do the scoring.  Anybody have any experience/feedback on this?  Is this a fairly seamless process.

Charlie,

You can export an lif life from agee. It'll include bib numbers and any results that were gathered in agee. Then import that lif into hytek and use the data as you'd like

thanks!

Second question, Do you know if there is there a way to run 2 computers simultaneous with Agee software, so there is a second collection of the timing data (in case computer crashes, a cable breaks,....... :)

With the ipico system there is a flashdrive in the reader, and we can run a data collecting utility called "splitpoint" that we can use if our main data file get hosed.

Why are you buying Flash Timing if you have ART? Just as an order verification tool?

I was also curious if it was possible to run one reader into two computers running the same race in art ART. Has anyone tried or know the answer?

Nope I'm pretty sure that's not possible. One session of the software connects to the reader and the other can't. But if you set up a wireless kiosk on a second computer you will have a backup on a second computer if need be.

So I bought the ART software and got readers/shoe tags from Agee.  Everything works great!

One issue I am having is importing the .lif file in hytek.  Everything works great except the times and ranks come into Hytek scrambled.  I have read everything I could find in this forum concerning that, seems the issue is the .lif file does not contain the ranks.  Did anyone find a good work around for this?  I tried all the various fixes (like reading times, x'ing out, matching and scoring) but nothing seems to work yet.  Is there an update that will insert the ranks into the .lif file?

I saw various mentions of workarounds, but trying to keep it simple.  On XC race days I am coaching and my wife and/or parents are timing, they are great with Hytek, so was hoping to use the ART software basically to capture the tags/times then dump them over to Hytek, until I have time to really get proficient at teaching them ART.

Any thoughts?

Charlie,

What do you mean scrambled? Do the correct times match the correct bibs at least?

I just ran a test and my lif looked fine. Perhaps it's worth your time to download the latest version of ART.

One caution that I believe caused me some problems in the past was to avoid any special characters in the race name which ultimately becomes the event name in the lif. If I remember correctly if you have a special character the lif may not import.

If you could give an example of what the lif looks like then perhaps we could be of more asaistance.

I think I figured out a simple work around for the scrambled data due to ranks not being included in .lif files! Followed some of the advice I have seen posted here, had to add a step for using multiple chutes (even though I am not using multiple chutes)

In ART:

I started with a “dummy race” that has all the shoe tags assigned, this allows ART to capture the tags and the times.  I capture all the results for tags and times. When finished I go the reports and create a Hytek .lif file for the event I am timing.  (I set up a race for each event, then name the .lif file with the appropriate event #)

Then in Hytek:

In the CC/RR module, choose the event you are bring in results for, click the “using more than one chute” box, then:

1)      -click TIMES, Read Times, click X (don’t save!)

2)      - click MATCH,  click X (does not appear to make a difference if you save or click X)

3)      - Click MergeChutes

4)      BINGO, everything seems to match up like should!

I think this covers it, will do some more testing to make sure I did not miss a step.  Then will get my wife to test it out (she is the key to my operation as she times XC races for me while I coach!) If she can make it  work fluidly in the big invitationals we have that have multiple races we are good to go!

Blue ridge - in response to your question

The .lif file looked fine, but when Hytek read the times they were out of order (for example 20:00.0 might be listed before 18:00.0) The problem was the bib number were being saved in this out of order sequence.  When you saved the times, they reordered, but the bib numbers did not reorder, so the bibs and times were mismatched.  If I read the times but did not save, everything stayed out of order, and in the results you get 20:00.0 showing up with a better rank than 18:00.0

There was no apparent order to how the times/ranks were being read, they were random.

The problem was with hytek reading the .lif file.  Not sure if this is because I don't have the photo finish option in Hytek, but it does allow me to choose the finishlynx data option in the button timer options.
