HELLO

I am trying to figure out if Agee can help with live tracking for an ultra/trail race.

I use UltraSignup instead of RunSignup, so I am looking at using Agee’s live export or tag read files to feed a simple public tracking page. Agee would still be the official timing system. The custom page would just show where runners were last seen on course.

Example:

Bib 127 - John Smith
Last seen: Aid Station 2
Time: 11:18 AM
Status: On course

A few questions:

  1. What is the best Agee file to use for this: Live Export, Tag Read file, Live Scoring Folder, or something else?
  2. Should I use “All Reads” if I want aid station reads and finish reads?
  3. Does the live export file append new reads, or does it rewrite the file each time?
  4. Does the file include bib number, timestamp, reader name, antenna number, race, etc.?
  5. Can Agee tell which reader/location produced the read, or would each aid station need its own export file?
  6. For remote aid stations, is it better to run a laptop and reader at each station and upload/sync from there?
  7. Has anyone used Agee this way with a custom public results/tracking page instead of RunSignup/RaceDay Scoring?

I am trying to start simple with one reader, one export file, and one public “last seen” page, then build from there.

At the simplest level consider a lapped event with more than one split.
You will need a reader at each checkpoint and the means to upload to whatever results system you are using.
You can probably treat each split as a Finish if your results display will sort multiple splits into order.

Once you have that working you may be able to customise the display information.

It is not trivial but you can create your own results display. Either your web page reads data from USU or whatever or you POST data to your own website to be processed.

Start small and simple.

Thanks Ted,

I’m really just trying to understand Agee’s live output.

What is the best live file or output to pull from, where is it located, and what is the best way to access it? Ideally I’d like to read the live data as it’s generated rather than export results after the fact. I need to pull live data and put it into my software.

Hi Jhon,

Agee saves the raw tag reads on a txt file, the file can be found where you set your Backup Database Location on the setting window, you can see the file and find a way to use that, Agee only send live Data to ArrowLive I think, it does not have an open API connection to collect data from.

Thats a good idea. I could just write it to pull from that.
