I've had a couple of users this Fall ask for how to get entries from HyTek into ART. I've never used HyTek so I reached out to one of the users that helped facilitate the ART<-> Hytek integration - Doug Thomasey.

I was remoted into the users computer as Doug guided me through the following steps from memory. I wanted to post these steps here so that I can easily find them in the future. HyTek experts, please add in any other tips or advice to this thread. For example, the guy I was helping day doesn't use Hytek and wasn't sure how to seed the events. So if someone can provide more info on how that's done it would be appreciated.

Here are the steps:
  1. You must seed all events.
  2. Click on Run > Interfaces > Photo Finish - Flash Timing > Update Start lists
  3. Make sure "All Events" is selected.
  4. Make sure "Active update on start lists" is checked.
  5. Doug says he creates a folder beforehand to hold the .evt files so that he can easily find them. Most be somewhere off of the C drive. Click on "Change Data Location" to select the folder.

Once all that info is set, Doug says all you have to do click on "Update Start Lists Ctrl-U" and it will create a new .evt file without having to all the steps above again.

I tested the steps Brian sent on an older version of Hy-Tek (version 2.0).  The steps I took were nearly identical and are similar to the steps I use when sending data from the Hy-Tek computers to the FinishLynx computers.

I created two events in Hy-Tek: a boy's 200 meter and girls 200 meter. I added a 11 boys and 13 girls to the events and then seeded both events. Both events had 2 heats each.

There was a small difference with step 2. I would select the FinishLynx File Sharing option rather than Flash Timing .

That'll bring up the  Update Start lists prompt.

Where you may select the folder you want to store the .EVT files.

In my example, I used a folder named C:\meets\20211006BrooklineXC.

After pressing the OK button, three files were created in the folder: lynx.evt, lynx.ppl and lynx.sch. I opened the lynx.evt file in notepad and saw the two events, each with two sections.

To test in A.R.T., I created a race from the HyTek file.

Two races were created: Girls 200 Meter Dash and Boys 200 Meter Dash.

I also use MeetPro for timing with the FinishLynx system. A similar process may be used to get the seed events from MeetPro to A.R.T.  --  Justin
