After having run my first race last weekend utilizing Raceday Scoring, admittidly in parallel with Agee scoring, I ended up without a gun start time in Raceday and had to add it at the end for everything to line up.  After some research it looks like the system is designed to get a Marker read for start time if started in another system.  It was not covered in the webinar as a topic.  I like the idea of starting races in one place so it is consistant and automatic but for now I am not wiling to give up the backup in Agee.  Any thoughts?

Hi Dan,

RaceDay Scoring has the ability to map a marker read occurrence to start a given corral or scored event, however the hardware/middleware sending reads to RDS has to have a way for us to designate that marker. Right now Agee doesn't send something in a way that would work for this.

Thanks,

Interesting! It's no problem at all for me to update the software to send that "marker read" occurrence. I'll work with RunSignUp to add this and anything else they indicate would be useful. I'll post on the "software updates" thread when it's tested and ready for public consumption.

I'm already doing that in the "Tag Read" file if you look at that. In the Tag Read file I also add 'markers' to indicate just about every activity that occurs on the timing screen (race time edited, race finished, restarted, and other activities).

Most systems use GUNSHOT for the bib or an expected default number (99999, for example) when they're sent to RDS, if that helps.

I saw the time in the file you are referencing Brian, it just did not look like something the marker feature was designed to process.  I have to admit it is a challange to determine best practices when there are so many software pieces and they are all migrating.  ART, RSU, RDT, Milesplit (and live), Finishlynx, MeetPro, ...

Thanks for the quick reply.
