We timed a race this weekend that included a 10K race followed by a 5K race.  During the 10K race, 5K bibs were being picked up as unassigned bibs.  We had both races open and only the 10K race started.  This was happening on both our primary and backup systems. We are running the latest version 1.6.6.3 and using dynamic bib assignment.

You can see an example in the attached screenshot for bib 1533.  The 5K race had 4 digit bib numbers and the 10K race had 3 digit bib numbers.   This screenshot was early in the race and many more occurred after that.  To make matters worse, we deleted these reads before starting the 5K race, but some of these got converted to chip start times which we then had to correct as well.

Brian, I sent you the race database by private email, so hopefully you can figure out why this happened.

You're correct! I just tested this and got the same results. I rewrote the method that handles tag reads to make it more efficient, but one line of code was only looking at "started" races to see if the chip read was valid, but it should have been looking at all races. I have it fixed and will push out an update tomorrow. Thanks!

I pushed it out Tuesday, but it was very late at night because I spent a lot of time testing everything to make sure there were no problems. I did so much testing because I had a brand new computer that would consistently lose connection to the reader if no tag was picked up for 60 seconds. I did a lot of testing with different timing boxes and laptops before I realized it was a setting in the computer itself that was causing the issue. I guess this is the first time I've received a laptop with this setting enabled by default. Hopefully this is not something we have to check after each Windows update going forward.

I'll have the "Software Updates" thread updated tonight, but the 1.6.6.4 update is available to download from the website. :)

On my laptop, the Network Adapter is a ‘Realtek USB Gbe Family Controller’ having the same Power Management options as Brian describes - with the same default settings.
Thankfully, I am not aware of any disconnects during races - but I am annoyed (with Microsoft) that such an option exists when ART requires constant power.
Is there an API request that can identify this so-called facility within Microsoft ?

I followed along to Brian's video to uncheck the Ethernet power management setting on my old computer.  The pathway Brian showed worked on my old computer.  On two of my newer computers I could not find an option for Ethernet Connection.
This PC --- Show More Options --- Manage ---Device Managers --- Network Adapters --- then nothing showing Ethernet connections?

Ideas?

What model laptop do you have? It should be those one or both of those two Realtek GbE Family Controller adapters.

Thanks Chris,
I turned of that power setting in both locations just in case.
