Has anyone developed a fast way to verify overall and age group awards? Especially for larger road races 500+ where RDs and participants want to start awards before the race is over?

Can you share your verification process with me?

Thanks in advance.

Have you used the verify awards feature in ART?

know of the award counter option under the clock on the timing screen. Is this located somewhere else?

Can you define what you mean by "verify" :)

My verification process is simply using the instant SMS results feature and posting QR codes for live results, then during the pre-race announcements I tell people to expect a text and where to find the live results, and to let me know asap if anything doesn't look right. Between the personalized text and the full results they can see online, that should get most issues squared away before official results are printed. If not, the responsibility is somewhat on the participant since you told them where to see their results and to let you know immediately if anything doesn't look right. So it's hard for them to complain too much if they catch a mistake after the official results were printed.

I will say that I've really falling in love with bringing an extra laptop and webcam and using OBS and VLC player to record the finish line and easily review any finishers that I want to verify their results. At the last XC race I timed I had a girl come up and say that her time online was 15 second slower that it actually was. I quickly pulled up the video and her time online matched exactly what the video showed. She said "Oh, I guess I just thought I ran faster, thank you for checking!". Webcams are cheap and OBS and VLC player is free, so if you have a spare laptop, that's what I would recommend as a quick verification process when there is a dispute.

Thanks for sharing that, Brian.

By "verify" I mean checking the age group award winners for accuracy. More of an issue on a larger race with lots of finishers under 25 minutes. RDs are asking for a prelim around 40 minutes in while categories are still filling in for the older age groups. I'm trying to be accommodating and right now I look at the paper sheet, but even that can be trusted so much with volunteers working the backup sheet.

I do push results online in real-time and have notifications enabled, but I really want to find a fast way to make sure the awards are right. I hate getting an email after the fact

I do have a Reolink continuous recording camera that can be accessed with software in realtime. I guess I should use that more with a second laptop. I defaulted to Android phones with Timestamp Camera to record my finish lines with time of day timestamp in the bottom corner. I just don't want to stop the video to verify because I like to have it for the RunSignup finish video feature.

Another laptop and camera is a great idea.

You can only work with the data you are given.

You could prepare the ART division report in advance to show awards only. Periodically print to pdf and post on line and / or print copies, one per club for verification.
