Hi All,

I am new to race timing and trialing ART with a used impinj R1000.

I am having an issue trying to program EPC tags. When I place the tag in front of the antenna it only appears for about half a second and then disappears. So there is not enough time to program the tag before it disappears. Then it reappears again and again after a second or so? kind of like it is cycling through the antennas slowly? i only have 1 antenna with 4 antenna ports.

Any ideas would be appreciated. I have searched through this forum without any luck.

I noted JK Race timing who advised in one of these forum posts to change RFID reader settings in ART software to "Motorola" model while programming tags and then back to "impinj"  for general race recording. This didn't seem to resolve the issue.

I have also tried the 'use the low power mode' for tag programming in the advanced ART Settings but it was the same issue with this selected or not selected.

Many thanks in advance for any advice,

The R1000 technically isn't supposed to work with the newer Impinj SDK that works with the R220 and R420 readers, however as you stated, it was discovered that you can tell the software it's a "motorola" reader to program tags and then set it back to an "impinj" reader to time a race. I haven't had my hands on one of those readers in many years, so I'm probably not much help. However I do wonder if you un-check the box that says "Use the lowest power setting when programming tags" and then set it as a "motorola" reader if that would help. I bring that up because as far as I can remember the only code changes I've done in a long time regarding connecting to readers is probably that 'use lowest power' setting option. So maybe the R1000 doesn't like whatever setting I'm telling it to use when you check that box.

This might not help at all, just wanted to throw it out for consideration in case it does help.
