I just went through a bunch of conversations. I was hoping that the people that use this interface can shed some light. I have been through the manual several times and can't seem to get it right.

I have everything set up for the External Sync. When reads come through, I get time of day for each instead of the time displayed in ART. Any idea why?

i have found that one is better off using sync None.
i have never seen an issue using that setting.
again, sync None in both Lynx and ART.

Can you show your LapTime settings in lynx. And did you set the "hidden" options in Lynx per the instructions (in the PDF link below)?

If you're using manual starts in Lynx, you may have to apply the time to your race (see steps 1, 2, and 3 in the image below)

From what I can see, I'd tell you to try "Internal" sync or None (as others have suggested; but "internal" has always worked perfectly for me).

And under "Final Split" at the bottom, you need to check the "Official Time" radio button.

Lemme know how that works out for you?

I agree with the Internal Option as well. However, my Final Split option is checked as 'LapTime' so that the immediate chip result populates. This gets me unofficial results much quicker without having to evaluate every finisher....however, we do evaluate all finishes and adjust as necessary. Just depends on how you want to evaluate your finishers..no wrong way to do this.

I also leave 'create results' unchecked. This prevents random reads from coming through as we know that the side antennas have the ability to pick up much more than just the finishers. I make it very clear to attending schools that they must have their varsity/jv lineup accurate and communicate with me any changes and then I load the start list into lynx. I do get an occasional coach who 'forgets' a kids or two...but if you're evaluating anyway, it is super simple to add the result into lynx. I'd rather add one or two out of 2500 kids than delete and try to figure out which 50 reads I should ignore.

Yeah, I just wish there was a more efficient way of handle the strays/accidental reads. Everyone always wants to stand around RIGHT AT the finish line.  I do evaluate every runner using the Lynx camera, but the problem is that the list gets overpopulated in big races, and the right-click option to look at the list of chip reads becomes useless in Lynx.  So I guess your way would be a better way to manage this at big races.  Thanks for chiming in!

So, you guys are using the Lynx camera not just the Identilynx. Maybe that is my issue, but I'm not sure why that would matter. For most races I have ART and the identilynx running. Someone is monitoring the chip reads on the Agee computer and someone is verifying with the Identilynx. But no matter if I use internal, external, or non, my times don't match. I can't even see a pattern in the random times that are syncing over.

We've actually seen a pretty big discrepancy in our last few meets between the lap time being sent to Lynx and the photo finish time this fall too. We're running the most recent ART version on all computers and have tried with sync source None (which is what we usually use) and Internal.

We evaluate every runner anyway so it's not a huge deal, but did have a Lynx camera drop mid race last week and had to rebuild directly from the chip reads.

Our primary usage for ART in cross country is to help speed evaluation by sending the chip read to Lynx and then hitting shift so the most recent chip read appears.

There's "offset" in Finish Lynx you may have to manually zero out right after the start of your races:

Hope this helps!

Thanks, I'll play with that today.
