Happy New Year!!
As you recall, we have since 2020 been preparing to hold the 2021
African Evaluation Conference in Addis Ababa Ethiopia on 8th to 12th March 2021. Consultations with VOPEs on the conference concept note were held in March to June 2020 and a near final document was ready for implementation. However, with the onset of COVID-19 and the subsequent lock downs, it became difficult for the board and members to continue with the preparations, as was earlier envisaged. Some of our members were directly affected by COVID-19 and scheduled processes came to a halt.
Given the time required to prepare the conference and engage all
members actively, the Board resolved to extend the conference date to 21st - 24th September 2021. The venue Addis Ababa Ethiopia remains the same. However, due to the attendant standing operating procedures for COVID-19, the conference shall for the first time in its history take a blended format of physical and virtual participation. We shall also organize the election of new board members prior the conference as per our constitution using online voting processes. Please note that only paid up members as of 2021 shall vote or stand to be voted as per the Constitution. We shall keep you posted on this matter.
The Board is reaching out to all of you to take interest in participating actively in conference preparations when called upon in the coming months. We look forward to nominations of members from each
VOPE who can play an active role in conference preparation. We also
looking for partners to support and engage in the conference preparations.
In the coming month(s), we shall share with you the call for abstracts
for the conference.
