JOB DESCRIPTION
BACKGROUND and JUSTIFICATION: KAFA (enough) Violence & Exploitation is a Lebanese non-profit, non-political, non-confessional civil society organization, established on the 8th of March 2005 by a group of activists and professionals who have long years of work experience in women issues, specifically in gender-based violence. The organization seeks to mitigate the causes and results of violence and exploitation of women and children through advocacy and lobbying, raising awareness, and by offering social and legal services to vulnerable cases. KAFA’s overall strategic goal is to contribute to the eradication of all sorts of domestic violence and exploitation of women and children. It focuses its strategies and efforts on three major areas: 1) Gender-based violence 2) Child sexual exploitation, and 3) Trafficking in women.
In 2007, KAFA produced an awareness toolkit on child sexual abuse (CSA) entitled "Towards Safety". This toolkit encloses a conceptual guide, a trainer’s activity manual, a reference guide for available services in Lebanon targeting children, a security passport, a poster and a flyer for parents. This toolkit is used by facilitators to introduce children to basic concepts of protection, abuse, and the body with the aim of raising awareness as a step towards prevention.
In 2013, KAFA partnered with UNICEF in a project entitled “Protecting children and adolescents from Gender Based Violence” aiming at enhancing protection of vulnerable children and adolescents affected by the Syrian crisis from GBV (early marriage and sexual abuse) through promoting their right to information by improving their access to adequate services and their awareness on how to protect themselves from GBV.
