Dear classmates:

When I volunteered to compile our email list, I was prepared to find many of us juggling between work and raising children, and some of us bearing the responsibilities of taking care of our ailing parents.  What was unexpected to me was to find one of us struggling on daily basis to care for his beloved wife.
       Sometime ago, Enoc (
陳裔榮) brought my attention to the sad news regarding the wife of our dear friend, Min-Chieh (明捷).  Stricken by a severe brain hemorrhage, Jin-Mei (吳靜梅) has been hospitalized since last September.  Jing-Mei was a middle-school teacher well liked by her students, but has become paralyzed by this serious illness.  Ming-Chieh has since been looking after her unwaveringly. Some of the ordeals he went through in the last seven months can be seen in his blog: http://blog.yam.com/wujinmei/article/13403066
I have asked Min-Chieh's permission to share this with you because I felt that under his circumstance he would need all the moral supports he could get to keep him going.
I saw Min-Chieh about this time last year.  Ever a gentleman, I didn't see much change in him back then.  Along with the others you saw in the photo in our reunion web site, we had a good chat over the lunch.  Since we parted, his world had taken a dramatic turn.  For now, his wife is making some positive but slow progress.  With a 20-year-old daughter already in college and a 17-year-old son in high school, Min-Chieh has a lot to look forward to in life.  But with all the hurdles to tackle he is low in spirits now.  If you were one of his college buddies, I'm sure a few kind and comforting words will make a lot of difference to him
(james...@msa.hinet.net).

I thank you very much for your attention and wish you all have a wonderful spring.

Best regards,
Woan-ru
P.S. Also attached here is the most recent version of our class email list.

Dear Friends,

I know some of you haven't decided to come to the reunion yet.  Here are some more reasons for you to come:
  1) Come to Vancouver and Alaska to enjoy fresh and uncontaminated seafood.
As shown in the seafood list below, both Alaska and British Columbia offer the best
      seafood in the United States.
  2) I have been Victoria Island two times, Vacouver one time and Canada Rockies one time.
I would say they are one of the most beautiful places in the world.
  3) Come to the reunion to rekindle your old memory and friendship.
  4) Glaciers in Alaska are melting fast.  Come to see them before they disappear.
  5) Come to chat with friends on topics such as "good health", "anti-aging" and "staying young".
  6) Tell your grandkids about our 30-year reunion stories, which happens once in a life time.

See you all in the reunion sincerely :-)

-Shengyih Guan
