Hi all,

Work quietly continues on the AfTerFibre map which is now hosted by the Network Startup Resource Center (https://nsrc.org).

The map's new home is at https://afterfibre.nsrc.org/

All the map data can be downloaded in a variety of formats from https://afterfibre.cartodb.com/dashboard/tables

The website has been developed using cartodb.js and you can find the code for it at

More than anything else what is needed at the moment is for people to validate the map elements.  For each fibre segment on the map, there is now a link in the infoWindow to tweet a correction or update about that segment.  Any corrections can also be tweeted to #AfTerFibre  Of course you can also post updates here.

If anyone has any thoughts on how to create a more effective feedback mechanism to improve the accuracy of the map, I would love to hear any ideas you may have.

Cheers... Steve Song

Hello Steve,

I would like to download the data to my local GIS to play with, but the link you provided: https://afterfibre.cartodb.com/dashboard/tables requires a login with the username "afterfibre". Can you help?

Thanks,

Matt

Hi Steve,

any suggestion/link on where I can download the Shapefile of the status of the fibre backbone around year 2005?

Thanks,

dante

Hi Dante,

Wish I could help with that.  I suspect that the shapefile for 2005 would be pretty sparse. I've never seen any maps dating back that far.

Cheers... Steve
