Hello Afterculturists,

This weekend I finished reading the book 'Ishmael' by Daniel Quinn. It is very relevant to what this group is trying to do, and it personally put me in a much better place to understand what we need to do and how we need to do it. It helped me make a lot connections as to why and how our culture has progressed into the beast that it has become. I'm sure at least some of you have already read it, but everyone should, yes?
Cheers,
Cliff

Just went out to one of Seoul's few English bookstores and found myself a (very expensive) imported copy of Daniel Quinn's "Ishmael."

Finished it in a matter of days, almost too quickly.

Babylon will not fall. Babylon will be dismantled ;)

Cliff, Waddi, St Even, and anyone else who read it...I'd really like to hear more of what you guys thought of the book, or the ideas placed in the book (positive, negative, neutral).

It has actually led me to begin re-reading Thoreau's "Walden"....so I leave you with his seemingly relevant words:

"Most of the luxuries, and many of the so-called comforts of life, are not only not indispensible, but positive hindrances to the elevation of mankind."
