The Aerospace Medical Director is responsible for leading sustainable occupational health programs across Aerospace through incorporating HOS practices with the Honeywell HSE Management System. This position provides day-to-day occupational health services/guidance to employees/medical facilities in the Phoenix Valley along with periodic guidance across Aerospace.

Phoenix Valley Health Services: 
 - Conduct occupational medicine surveillance exams and DOT physicals and physical certifications 
- Evaluate, assess and treat employees with occupational injuries/illnesses and provide follow up care 
- Evaluate employees for return to work and accommodated duty
 - Interface with employees personal physicians for questions relating to return to work and workplace accommodations that may impact an individual in the workplace 
- Maintain well documented medical records for all patient/employee interactions 
- Provide prevention practices and lead constant improvements of the occupational health programs and practices 
- Provide limited episodic care for minor acute illnesses (as time permits) 
- Serve as MRO (Medical Review Officer) for regulated (FAA and FMCSA) and non-regulated drug and alcohol testing (must maintain current MRO certification to do this) 
- Act as the overseeing physician for EMTs within the Honeywell fire department/ oversee site AED programs 
- Oversee travel preparedness program (immunization and medications) for international travelers 
- Interface with employees, Human Resources department representatives and external administrators regarding Shortterm Disability (STD), Workers Compensation and FMLA 
- Provide medical directives for nursing staff 
- Identify ergonomic improvement opportunities 
- Participate on process improvement teams or Kaizen events as a medical resource 
- Stay current on any emerging occupation health innovations, technologies and communities 
- Provide oversight for the individuals conducting audiometric exams at sites with Hearing Conservation Programs 

Aerospace Health Services: 
 - Oversight for all Honeywell required and regulated programs including medical surveillance/medical examination programs. Assure compliance with all regulatory and corporate requirements 
- Participate in Corporate Audit Program 
- Serve as a member of the corporate health services functional committtee charged with developing health standards 
- Work with site HSEF leaders to provide guidance to ensure safe working conditions 
- Provide consultation to all Aerospace locations on various occupational health issues including, but not limited to absenteeism, workers compensation, fitness for duty, emergency preparedness & staffing 

Basic Qualifications:

 - US citizen or permanent resident required due to government contracts 
 - MD/DO degree is required 
 - Licensed Physician with a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience required 
 - 1+ years corporate occupational medicine experience with supervisory responsibilities preferred
 - DOT CDL examiner certification will be required 

Additional Qualifications:

- Board certification in Occupational Medicine as well as Board Certification in another specialty area preferred 
- Strong oral and written communication skills 
- Occupational Health and Workers' Compensation & injury case management knowledge and experience 
- Knowledge of Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), American Disability Act (ADA) & disability program management 
- Comprehensive problem solving, strategic planning and program management skills 
- Drug & Alcohol program Medical Review Officer (MRO) certification 
- CPR/AED Certification
