Greetings All

The Extractives Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) during the recently concluded Forum for Financing Development (FfD4) building on the objectives and priorities of the Seville Commitment (FfD4 Outcome document), suggested five ways in which it can support countries secure revenues for development by helping these countries tap into the revenue potential of their Extractives Industries.

1) Empowering Multi-Stakeholder Oversight through its unique Multi-Stakeholder Group Model

2) Striking Good Deals through its country specific support in evaluating the fiscal impact of commodity (Extractives) contracts

3) Promoting Local Value Addition through its mandate requiring implementing countries to publish the contribution of their Extractives Industries including employment and local content.

4) Combating Illicit Financial Flows by requiring timely disclosures of Key data areas relating to production and export of extractives at project levels

5) Disclosing the ultimate owners of companies through its Opening Extractives joint initiatives that supports the disclosure of beneficial ownership in Extractives Industries.
