Dear FfD colleagues,
Greetings! We hope this message finds you well.
The Fourth Financing for Development Conference (FfD4) will take place in Sevilla, Spain, on June 30-July 3 2025. The FfD process, since its inception, aimed to expand the policy and fiscal space of developing countries so that they could advance and finance their development in a sustainable manner. FfD4 should therefore generate actionable multilateral decisions for the removal of the systemic and structural impediments to transformation and the re-design of global economic governance to promote truly democratic multilateralism. It is however essential that FfD4 responds to the specificities of the agenda for African development and structural transformation. This requires a coherent, well-articulated and ambitious African negotiating position.
As you might be aware, civil society participated in the FfD process from its early days and has progressively organized itself in a wide and inclusive Civil Society FfD Mechanism to be able to impactfully speak with one voice in the FfD negotiations and follow-up. Please find here more information on the Mechanism and its thematic tracks, including on how to participate in its activities.
In our capacity as Africa Core Group of the Mechanism, representing a wide array of regional economic justice networks that engage in the various domains of FfD, we would like to invite all interested local, national and regional African organizations to join a newly constituted FfD Africa list to be able to share information, coordinate preparations and develop a common African civil society position on FfD. To enroll in the FfD Africa list, please fill a short form here.
We will be organizing a first introductory call at the beginning of November. Agenda and call details will be circulated shortly.
We look forward to your engagement and active participation!
On behalf of the FfD Africa Core Group of the Civil Society FfD Mechanism, the FfD Africa Core Group is comprised of the African Forum and Network on Debt and Development (Afrodad), the African Women's Development and Communications Network (FEMNET), the Nawi Afrifem Collective (Nawi Collective), Reality of Aid Africa (RoA-A), the Southern and Eastern Africa Trade Information and Negotiations Institute (SEATINI), Tax Justice Network Africa (TJNA) and Third World Network Africa (TWN-A).
Best Regards,
