Today's Programme Highlights

Africa's Economic Development in Perspective

Africa, known for its rich natural resources and youthful population, stands at a pivotal juncture in its economic journey. Over the past decades, the continent has experienced various phases of growth, challenges, and opportunities. Understanding Africa's economic development necessitates a nuanced perspective that takes into account historical, social, political, and global factors.

This high-level keynote session will feature Professor Jeffrey Sachs, a noted economist and expert on Africa's development finance infrastructure.

Keynote by:

Jeffrey Sachs

A new development paradigm

With a focus on the role of National Development Banks (NDBs), blended finance mechanisms, and industrial policy, the discussion will examine how public and private capital can be mobilised to drive inclusive growth and sustainable development. Speakers will also highlight pathways to strengthen private sector participation and align financial instruments with national development strategies.

Commercializing Agriculture in the 21st Century economy

The resilience of Africa's economies rests on its agricultural sector. However, for this engine of growth to reach its full potential, it must overcome the challenge of scale. This session will explore how technology and financial innovation can transform the agricultural value chain, as well as the role of National Development Banks (NDBs) in supporting this ecosystem.

This high-level panel discussion will feature an opening keynote by agri-business leader and philanthropist Mahesh Patel.
