Dear colleagues,
We are very excited to introduce to you our ‘explainer’ series, short articles unpacking critical trade issues from a feminist perspective in a Q&A format produced by Regions Refocus for the Gender and Trade Coalition. Each explainer is produced in collaboration with different Coalition members, showcasing the wide variety of feminist expertise. Topics covered by explainers include Gender and Trade, Post-War Recovery and Trade, Migration and Trade, and Climate and Trade.
The first explainer, Gender and Trade, is now live on our website! Produced in collaboration with Nawi-Afrifem Macroeconomics Collective, Institute of Law and Economics (ILE), and Asia Pacific Forum on Women, Law, and Development (APWLD), the explainer puts forward strategic policy proposals working towards gender-just trade drawing from answers to the following questions:
How Are Gender and Trade Connected?
Why is Trade Seen as a Tool of Gender Equality?
How Has Trade Changed Women’s Role in the Labor Market?
How Does Corporate Capture of Trade Impact Women?
The Gender and Trade Explainer is available to read here: bit.ly/GTCGenderAndTradeExplainer
New explainers will launch roughly every month. We hope this explainer, and the entirety of the series, is useful in your own work, and our shared project of cultivating feminist economic justice within and across all regions of the world. Please feel free to share widely.
In solidarity,
Regions Refocus
