Dear Colleagues,

Warm greetings from the African Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (AOAI).

We are writing to invite leading educational institutions across Africa to join our growing continental community and help bring your country's most talented High School students onto the global AI stage.

AOAI is Africa's continental AI competition and the African qualifier for the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI). Our mission is simple: to discover, train, and empower young African minds in artificial intelligence, and to give every country the opportunity to be represented.

We are currently seeking accredited representative organizations in the following countries, which are not yet part of our community:
  • Algeria
  • Central African Republic
  • Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC)
  • Djibouti
  • Equatorial Guinea
  • Eritrea
  • Gabon
  • Guinea-Bissau
  • Libya
  • Liberia
  • Mauritania
  • Republic of the Congo
  • São Tomé and Príncipe
  • Seychelles
  • Sierra Leone
  • Somalia
  • South Sudan
  • Uganda
Who can apply
We accept a wide range of organizations, provided they have institutional credibility, including:
• Academic institutions and research labs - universities, specialized schools, or academic departments
• Non-profits and public associations dedicated to STEM education, competitive programming, or AI advocacy
• Private or corporate AI outlets that run nationwide educational or student-training programs

What an accredited organization commits to
• Operational capacity to organize, promote, and coordinate an annual National Olympiad in AI (NOAI)
• Nationwide inclusivity - an open, equal-access selection process for all eligible secondary-school students, regardless of school, background, or region
• Non-profit selection - the national competition may not be run for profit, though nominal fees to cover the final team's travel and logistics are permitted
• International coordination - a designated adult Team Leader to serve as the official liaison with the IOAI General Assembly

Each participating country is represented by a single accredited organization that coordinates its national selection. If your institution is interested and can meet the requirements below, we would be delighted to welcome you.

To help us support you, please reply and let us know:
• Which country or territory you would like to represent (from the list above)
• What type of organization you operate under (university, non-profit, private, public, etc.)

We would be honored to welcome your institution into the AOAI community and to work together in building the next generation of African AI innovators
🎉

Warm Regards,
AOAI TEAM
