Why I Respect Captain Ibrahim Traoré

I will be honest, as an African woman living in the diaspora here in Italy, I have watched our story being told by others for too long. But when I look at Captain Ibrahim Traoré, I see something different. I see us telling our own story.

What I love about him is his boldness. He is young, he is fearless, and he is not waiting for permission from anyone to love his country. At his age, many want comfort, but he chose duty. He chose to wear the same uniform as his soldiers and stand with his people in Burkina Faso when it would have been easier to run.

For me, Traoré reminds me of why I am proud to be African. He is saying what many of our parents and grandparents wanted to say — that our gold, our land, our future should first bless our own children. That we can decide who our friends are. That we can build peace in the Sahel by ourselves, with our brothers in Mali and Niger.

People will criticize him, especially from outside. But I ask, who is there for Burkina Faso when the attacks happen? He is. He is present. And that presence matters more than all the big speeches in big offices.

As someone who creates content and speaks to people every day through Bsconcept Tv, I follow leaders who inspire the next generation. Traoré inspires my generation. He makes us believe again. He makes a young girl in Italy believe that Africa's tomorrow can be better than yesterday, because we have leaders who actually believe in Africa.

He may not be perfect, but his heart is for his people. And for that, I stand with him. Africa is rising, and names like Ibrahim Traoré will be remembered.
