TO: All: We need an INVESTIGATION AND THOSE RESPONSIBLE FIRED.
This is serious and the Federal Government should explained why the plane was not allowed to land.
Let me make it clear that Jonathan has to be careful how he handles the opposition.
I really now believe he is a FOOL if he is part of such PLOY. What if the plane had crashed. I bet you he would have gone into EXILE.

An aircraft carrying a delegation of the All Progressive Congress was on Thursday  prevented from landing at the Gombe Airport.
Our correspondent learnt on Friday that the aircraft was about to land when the pilot saw that a fire truck was parked at the runway.
The delegation was led by a former Minister of State for Power and Steel, Muritala Aliyu.
It was gathered that the pilot informed the APC leaders that he did not have enough fuel to go to back to Abuja.
It was learnt that the plane had to go to Bauchi for emergency landing.
The National Publicity Secretary of the party,  Alhaji Lai Mohammed, confirmed the incident, in a telephone interview with one of our correspondents.
He said that the APC officials were going to Gombe for the inauguration of the state interim executive of the party.
According to him, the officials had to go to Gombe from Bauchi by road. There are no night flight facilities at the Bauchi airstrip.
Mohammed described the action of the aviation authorities as political prosecution.
The former minister, who led the delegation, in an interview on Friday, said the aviation authorities should have let the pilot know the condition of the airport before he took off from Abuja.
According to him, the  pilot was in touch with the control towers at the Gombe Airport, adding that that there was no information that Gombe Airport was closed to traffic until they got there.
When contacted the spokesman of the aviation agencies, Mr. Yakubu Dati, told one our correspondents that a notice to all airmen was issued to pilots before the airport was closed.
According to him, the pilot of the chartered aircraft may have chosen not to obey the notice.
He stressed that the occupants of the aircraft may be trying to gain publicity by ignoring professional instruction by the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria. Punch

Sometimes I believe that fanusie suffers from acute ignorance and doing the paid job poorly. Why link GEJ with everything that happen to his friends. Please wake up lack of planning cannot be the problem og GEJ. There is nothing wrong if irresponsible people die in plane crash.

Chief Eteli

Please hear yourself.

1. How can you morally sanction the death of another human because their actions are irresponsible?

2. If the pilot of a plane is irresponsible in his actions, does that make those flying in that plane equally irresponsible or responsible for actions they are unaware of at the time it happened?

Sometimes I wonder if these fellow are educated. They always focus on rubbish instead looking at the real problem like why was the plane not allowed to land? That is focus. I thin if women were in charge

It seems no one is looking at the political side of the issue. Who ordered the truck to be on the runway and why? What if something happens and the plane can't land in bauchi also due to lack of fuel or any other issue and why didn't they inform the pilot? Nigerian political leaders are so desperate that they can even take murderous steps to prevent an opposition from holding a meeting?

I wonder the kind of reasoning that takes over most of you!

Airport authorities said they had send out warnings to flight users about work that had to be performed on the runway. Other aircrafts heeded the alert and warnings.....it was only the silly APC delegation that did not heed. Pilot of the aircraft that dumb? Was he not in contact with the control tower?

Did you people not read the press release and educate yourself instead of coming out here to spew out unbelievable measures of ignorance!

shameful.

An important question to ask before laying complete blame on the pilot is:

"Why did the Abuja control tower grant permission for the charter plane to take-off from Abuja if it properly logged in its destination as Gombe and an advisory had been sent out saying that the Gombe airport was closed down?"

Other important questions to ask

If the pilot was informed that Gombe airport was shut-down, what is the probability that the pilot was on a suicide-homicide mission?

Would any sane pilot unless they want to commit suicide or have a distressed plane on their hands, risk taking a trip to an airport that they have been told is shut-down?

If indeed a suicide-homicide mission was the goal of the pilot, why then did he abort it by going to Bauchi?

What is the percentage of pilots that would risk their license and the credibility of the company they work for by taking a potentially suicide-homicide mission just for the sake of publicity and/or money, assuming indeed he received the alert of Gombe airport shut-down and went ahead for publicity?

The facts are all out there on the internet.

Yakubu Datti, Aviation Spokesman gave an explanation on that matter. That is my point. Why would that be so hard to believe?

APC and its rambunctious media people are setting a bad precedence in this country and I think it is high time they are cautioned. Datti said a Notice to Airmen NOTAM was issued concerning the broken down fire truck on the run way. He also said that the Gombe airport was not a 24 hr airport.

Is it not of concern that the pilot of the flight has not spoken on this matter?

I have witnessed a similar incident in a smaller airport in an American city and the matter was not politicized the way this one has been. We must be careful in the manner we spew out words.

Regards

GK

Stephania,
You would appreciate what some of us are saying if you understand the dirty politics some people in Nigeria are playing. Whatever happens, it GEJ that is responsible. The planlessness or arrogance of a bunch of rascals is blamed GEJ. So it is not whether I want every irresponsible people to die, but the crooks with arrogance streak I would not mind what happens to them.

I read what Mr. Yakubu Datti had to say. He alluded to the operation of "Kabukabu" as one cause of the communication break-down. This speaks to inadequate monitoring to ensure that flights operating in Nigerian airspace are properly registered in Nigeria for operations or Nigerian aviation policies that do not facilitate effective communication. Why would permission be granted for take-off to a charter airline that is not properly registered for flight operations in Nigeria?

Remain blessed.

The truth is accountability, transparency and justice are mirages in Nigeria. Those who walk the corridors of power and influence act with impunity. Those who are oppressed are so psychologically enslaved, that they are accepting of their oppression. They patiently wait their turn like vultures to get into the role of the oppressor.
