How many Fulani are there in Nigeria?

There are estimates of 20-25 million Fulani people.

There are generally three different types of Fulani based on settlement patterns, viz: the nomadic-pastoral or Mbororo, the semi-nomadic, and the settled or "town" Fulani. The pastoral Fulani move around with their cattle throughout the year.”………Engr JNiang.

Engr Niang, Fulani population in Nigeria is less than 5m. Na lie, there’s no “semi-nomadic”, you’re either a nomad or an aristocrat living in the palace or around the palace.

Moving their cattle around doesn’t mean they own the lands.

Fulani in Nigeria were made up of two groups in Nigeria.

These two groups only came about in the 1800s when Gogobiri Hausa lands were conquered. Before 1800s in Nigeria, you only have the Mar’abah which was corrupted as Marabouts, those were Fulani herbalists and Quran readers.

Then after 1800s when Hausa towns fell, they formed two distinctive groups, Pastoral Fulani which were cow-herders, and the Emir-ship Fulani.

Please don’t be confused about the two groups before 1800, and the two groups after 1800s.

It was the Mar’abah group that overpowered the kings in Hausawa lands and turned into the Fulani aristocrats.

Uthman Dan Fodio was part of the Mar’abah group, Quran pounding fanatics.

Those surrounding and living by or inside the palace in old times were the soldiers, Quran readers and guardians of the Emirate.

They saw themselves as the intellectual wing, and were led by the Aristocratic group with the Emir or Sultan as the head. Till this day that’s how they operate.

The rest of the Fulani in old times were Pastoral and nomadic Fulani.

They move from town to town, with at least one Mar’abah, towns that belonged to other tribes.

Mode of Operation: While they are selling their cows, they settle their Quran reader or herbalist or Mar’abah by the king’s palace in any town they enter……and as the cow sellers go on their business, the Mar’abah will try to ingratiate himself or themselves with the king and his chiefs, trying to convince them to become Muslims.
Meanwhile the cow-herders are scouting around measuring the weaknesses of the town and how to attack of possible.

What makes it harder for Fulani to overrun legitimate governments nowadays is because most countries are well organized with well regulated armies.
If not, Nigeria would’ve become Fulani state.

Na wah for you oo .... My Iyanminrin Igbo OLD FROG.

I am glad to know that MADAM SHIGIDI gave you a few minutes' break, an opportunity for you to pick up your laptop and run your filthy mouth at Jerome and his FULANI and IDOMA ancestry. .... I take no offense at all .... I will not get into any rofo-rofo with you, I don't want you to suddenly KICK-AM-FOR-BUCKET and let them trace your last argument in the forums to JEROME, and let them say Jerome is the one that PULL-AM-FOR-PLUG on an OLD FROG like you who is already on his way 'out'.

Hang in there, FOOL,
Be glad you are still well hidden in Chicago for now, because the worst area to be in Igboland today is the IDEMILI NORTH LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA of ANAMBRA STATE .... there are some serious BEHEADINGS going on there EVERY DAY up until now, even Charles Chukwuma Soludo won't stray go near Nkpor.

Jerome. Fulani are taking over every inch of Ndomaland in Middlebelt, as your folks are crying. They better not show up in my neighborhood. You should see whose corpses are waiting to be delivered to our Deity Shrines. They better stay where they are. Even the Deities are not accepting Fulani cows for sacrifice. Only Ehi Igbo are acceptable and used in authentic  sacrifices to the Deities.

 Fellow Nigerians,

Before you start thinking that your own tribe owns any square inch of Nigeria more than the FULANI people, educate yourself.

Google FULANI, and you will know that the FULANI people are as old in NIGERIA as NIGERIA herself .... Probably older in Nigeria than your own tribe.

Fulani, also called Peul or Fulbe, is a primarily Muslim people scattered throughout many parts of Africa, mostly in West Africa from Lake Chad in the east to the Atlantic coast.

They are concentrated principally in Nigeria, Mali, Guinea, Senegal, and Niger but can also be found in several other countries.

Where did the Fulanis originate from?

However, it is generally recognized that Fulani descended from nomads from both North Africa and from sub-Sahara Africa. They came from the Middle East and North Africa and settled in Central and West Africa from the Senegal region they created the Tekruur Empire which was contemporary to the Ghana Empire.

When did Fulani migrate to Nigeria?

And it was during the 15th century they arrived in Nigeria. They settled in Hausa states such as Kano, Zaria, and Katsina as clerics. Others later settled among local people in the 16th and 17th centuries, at this time the predominant Hausa state was Gobir after being able to gain its independence from foreign rulers.

How many Fulani are there in Nigeria?

There are estimates of 20-25 million Fulani people.

There are generally three different types of Fulani based on settlement patterns, viz: the nomadic-pastoral or Mbororo, the semi-nomadic, and the settled or "town" Fulani. The pastoral Fulani move around with their cattle throughout the year.
