THE COMPANY THAT OWNED NIGERIA 🇳🇬🇬🇧

EDUCATIONAL COMMENTARY:

Before 1900, "Nigeria" did not exist as a country it was personal business before it is converted .

The land was ruled by a PRIVATE BRITISH COMPANY called Royal Niger Company.

FACTS:

Had its own army + flag

Controlled all trade — palm oil, rubber, ivory

Taxed local kings directly

Burned villages that refused company rule

Sold to British Government for £865,000 in 1900

January 1, 1900: Company became "Northern + Southern Nigeria"

1914: Lord Lugard joined them = Nigeria born

LESSON: Countries are not made by God. They are made by business and power.
