Who the heck is Rep Chris Smith?
Who really gives a damn about what he thinks?

The philosophy of ‘One Nigeria’ is the major driving factor of disunity in Nigeria. I have an elderly friend who still refers to his wife as “my father’s wife” Their marriage has been like that of cat and dogs. As an only son, his father forced him to marry early and to achieve this, they chose a wife for him, paid her dowry and transported her down to Lagos, where the man saw her for the first time and was forced to marry her. With time both of them discovered they were not meant to be, but fear of societal shame has kept them together in fear.
In another case, I built a small Christian community centre for students. When they came to live together, I strictly warned them not to contribute money for any form of community cooking. I told each person to have his stove and cooked whatever he liked. Unfortunately they negated this advise and decided to contribute money and cook from one central pot. Not long the cord of unity was broken. Quarrel broke out.
Some of the students were not willing to make contributions again. Some were not willing to do the actual cooking and the food also finished quickly because some had larger stomach than the other. Finally they settled to everyone to his kitchen and everyone to his pot and every one to his kind of food.
We must tell ourselves the truth, Nigeria cannot work. Nigeria can only work under a restructured model like that of Scotland and England. Isn’t it wonderful that despite the fact that Scotland is part of Great Britain, she is playing at the World Cup as a country in her own right? Why can’t we have Biafra, Arewa, Yoruba, Akwacross, Ijaw, Edo Tiv, Jukun as nations with quasi sovereignty in a union? If this is not done, then Nigeria is already a human rights abuse and a huge humanitarian crisis in the quick making.
